No Country for Old Men (2007)
Hmm… It was ok. It’s not something I’d enjoy watching again but the characters are really interesting to dissect and observe. I watched this with my dad and the entire time I was partially covering my ears and eyes whenever I *think* there’s going to be gun shots or people getting killed. Haha. It’s an instant reaction.
Javier Bardem’s character is insane and brilliant. Poor animals :( Keyholes being popped out are freaky. They compare his character to Hannibal Lecter but I can’t really agree or whatever because I have no guts to watch Silence of the Lambs!!!!! Tommy Lee Jones was Tommy Lee Jones. Josh Brolin looked really really old. Brand, is that you? Oh and I hated his character for shooting the dog. How cruel!
The ending was.. abrupt. I wasn’t really disappointed but a part of me still wanted the typical ending. The title says a LOT about the message and theme of the film. Powerful stuff. Spoiler. I really wanted Chigurh to die when he was hit by the car. However, I felt that it wouldn’t be justifiable for all the crap he did. And I’m glad he lived through it because what I wanted was an explosive ending that would match Bonnie and Clyde. Unfortunately, it didn’t although that was the point of the film. :(
I really feel like I’m missing something the critics saw in the movie. My dad loved it though. I’ll adjust the rating IF I think it’s necessary after I watch it for the second time. If I watch it for the second time. Coz I’m a scaredy cat. Huhu.
